The Last Man - Review!

I went to see the UK premiere of “The Last Man”. This was a musical unlike any I had seen before. I was curious about how engaging a show would be with just one person in it, but Lex Lee nailed it! It’s a rock musical and the vocals were INSANE.

The songs added so much impact to the show, giving the perfect mix of musical theatre and rock. They were so catchy!

Lex Lee might be one of the most talented performers I have seen in a very long time, his vocals absolutely delivered and his stage presence was excellent. His acting was also incredible, particularly towards the end as the show escalated.

The vlogging style of the performance was great! I find it kinda cringe when people just monologue to themselves, so having him talk to a camera was really effective! Nothing significant really happens within the show, which was so nice in the way that it felt like being on facetime with a friend and just listening to them talk.

The role of the survivor is shared across Lex Lee and Nabi Brown and I am intrigued as to how she would have played the character differently! I might have to make a return trip.

The show is playing at the Southwark Playhouse until the 13th of June, definitely go catch it if you get the chance!
